Our Section 117 Aftercare service is designed for individuals who have been detained under specific sections of the Mental Health Act and require ongoing support post-discharge. Key features include:

• Personalised Care Plans: Developed in collaboration with mental health professionals, GPs, and families, our plans focus on individual recovery goals, addressing mental, emotional, and social needs.
• Safe and Supportive Environment: Our adapted facilities, including secure communal areas and calming gardens, provide structure and reassurance, reducing anxiety and fostering stability.
• Holistic Support: We offer access to therapeutic activities, counselling, and community integration programmes to build confidence, social skills, and independence.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Our team works closely with NHS mental health teams, social workers, and local services to ensure seamless care and ongoing support tailored to each resident’s journey.

Positive Behaviour Support Care Planning

At Bennfield House we use a Positive Behaviour Support approach to understand the underlying reasons behind a person’s behaviour. We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and our care planning focuses on identifying triggers, unmet needs and environmental factors that may cause distress.

Our PBS care plans are overseen and developed by our Registered Mental Health Nurses, who bring specialist clinical knowledge and experience in supporting individuals with complex mental health and behavioural needs. They work closely with our care team to ensure strategies are clearly understood and delivered consistently in a person-centred, compassionate way.

By using proactive and preventative strategies and working collaboratively with residents, families and healthcare professionals, we aim to reduce distress, promote independence and create a calm, supportive environment where every individual feels understood, respected, and valued.
